Ronnie Douglas Blues Band

Ronnie DouglasGuitarist and vocalist Ronnie Douglas, from Rama First Nation, has been playing professionally for eight years, and leading his own band for four. The band's high octane Chicago-style blues have been heard at the Orillia Spring Blues Festival, the Barrie Jazz & Blues Festival and numerous southern Ontario clubs.

The band will be appear in the Talent Search Winners Showcase, Saturday, July 17, 5pm, in the Brigantine Room at Harbourfront Centre, as part of the Great Canadian Blues Festival (July 16-18). CBC Radio's Saturday Night Blues will tape the show for national broadcast.

Maureen Hastings Maureen Hastings: Hamilton resident Maureen Hastings applies her natural singing voice and passion for music to blues and R&B. Moved by the spiritual energy of Howlin' Wolf, Billie Holiday and Bessie Smith, Maureen formed a band, and started gigging. She has just completed work on a recording of all original compositions.

Johnny PearlJohnny Pearl and Raz Ma Taz: Johnny's musical career includes playing with Artemis Pyle (Lynrd Skynrd), recording on Nashville's Music Row, and releasing four albums, one video and a CD. Voted Artist of the Year by CKPT/CHUM in Peterborough, Pearl offers up rockin' blues originals and a lively stage show.

Raoul and The Big Time Raoul and The Big Time: Fronted by actor/vocalist/harmonica player Raoul Bhaneja, The Big Time perform swing, jump and blues. A protege of New Orleans harp ace Jumpin' Johnny Sansone, Raoul has played harmonica in Ireland, England, Germany, Montreal and Winnipeg, as well as in his home town of
Toronto.

Susie Arioli Swing Band Susie Arioli Swing Band: Drummer and vocalist Arioli leads this Montreal-based outfit, whose repertoire includes 30's and 40's swing, big band, western swing, jump blues, and composers such as Duke Ellington, Fats Waller and Cole Porter. In 1998 they opened for Ray Charles at the Montreal Jazz Festival, and have just released their first CD.

Rick Worrall Rick Worrall: A singer-songwriter living in Orillia, Worrall has a 20 year history on the Canadian music scene, with recordings released by Attic Records and another produced by Memphis hot-shot Jim Gaines, for Spy/A&M. His latest CD features an all-star cast of Canadian roots musicians performing his original soulful blues-roots tunes.
