Call for Entries

The Toronto Blues Society invites Canadian blues musicians and bands 
to enter the 7th Annual Talent Search.

The winning act will receive a paid showcase performance during the Labatt Blue's Festival at Harbourfront Centre, July 4-6 in Toronto, to be recorded for national broadcast on CBC Radio's Saturday Night Blues.

Bands and musicians qualify for entry if they have not made a nationally-distributed or major record label recording, and their music is considered blues-based. Entrants are to send a CD or cassette of at least three songs selected for review. The material submitted must have been recorded in the last two years. Original material is encouraged. The entry must also include a bio, photo and contact information, including mailing address and telephone number. The entry fee is $10.00.

Deadline for submissions to be received at the TBS office is May 9, 2003, 5pm.

A screening panel will choose six acts, each of whom will perform one live set in the event finals, June 13-14 at the Silver Dollar Room.

In addition, the winner will receive a recording date at Alec Fraser's renowned Liquid studio, as well as a professional studio photo shoot, compliments of Rick Zolkower (Downchild, Rockin' Highliners, Rick Fines).

This event is produced with support from the City of Toronto through the Toronto Arts Council; the Ontario Arts Council; and the Ontario Ministry of Culture.

To Enter: Send a cassette or CD with three songs selected (material must have been recorded during the past two years - original material is encouraged). Entry fee is $10. All entries become the property of the Toronto Blues Society and will not be returned. A screening panel will choose six acts, each of whom will perform one live set in our finals.
