Happy Birthday Eddy C: Eddie C. Campbell celebrates his 70th Birthday with a new release on Delmark (Tear This World Up, his debut on Delmark) and special shows on Tuesday, May 5 at the Chicago Cultural Center, Friday, May 29 at Buddy Guy's Legends and the main stage at the Chicago Blues Fest on Friday, June 12

On Saturday, June 13, Reggie's Music Joint in Chicago hosts the "Delmark Records Revue" featuring Eddie C. with sets from Rockin' Johnny Burgin, Tail Dragger, Johnny B. Moore and Jesse Fortune and many special guests, including westside guitarist Cadillac Zack from Los Angeles.

This show is also a "welcome home" for Rockin' Johnny, one of Chicago's best blues guitarists who mysteriously disappeared from the Chicago Blues scene for over 7 years, and is now back, anxious to play!

Eddie C. Campbell (born Duncan, MS 1939) is one of the most distinctive, original bluesman you'll ever come across. He is one of the last of the originators of the West Side sound of Chicago blues still performing in their prime.  Eddie C. is the absolute master at deep funk blues grooves, mesmerizing audiences with his devastatingly wild, vibrato guitar and powerful, resonating vocals, along with a unique, personal songwriting style.  Eddie C. Campbell brings his unmistakably individual, engaging and memorable verve and variety and his command of the Chicago blues tradition to Tear This World Up, his most fully realized chapter in a highly regarded discography which has generated covers by Lynyrd Skynyrd and Lee Atwater and a Christmas staple!  Eddie has long been a master of classic Chicago blues, but always his own man, turning out venues worldwide with funk, soul & rock & roll as well as blues, all with his rich, wide-ranging vocals, the trademark reverb-drenched sound of his vintage metallic purple Fender Jazzmaster guitar, and his very creative songwriting.

Another Birthday: Congratulations  to Canadian Musician magazine and Publisher Jim Norris and his team for 30 years spreading the good word on Canadian music and providing valuable resources to Canadian musicians and music practitioners. 30 years ago in the spring of 1979, Canadian Musician magazine released its debut issue featuring rock legend Burton Cummings on the cover. Since then, Canada’s best and brightest musicians have graced the cover of CM making it Canada’s longest running music magazine. Today, the 30th Anniversary issue still celebrates The Artist, The Gear, and The Biz.

For the last 30 years CM has gone through many changes as the industry and technology has changed. CM now has an Internet presence with an online version of the magazine, and also a bi-weekly newsletter. Some things, however, don’t change. Like being able to pick up the print version from your favourite store shelf. CM has continued to lead the way in bringing Canadian musicians quality content, an exciting look at current trends and products, and a spotlight on the people helping to revolutionize the Canadian Music landscape.

CM has been around to support Canadian musician for 30 years and it is just getting warmed up. “The next 30 years will be even more exciting than the last”, says Jim Norris, Publisher of Canadian Musician magazine.. www.canadianmusician.com
