| Roxanne Potvin, who's riding high on her successful album "The Way It Feels", produced by Grammy-winning Colin Linden. It’s been more than 18 months since she played a club show in Toronto (although she played Massey Hall three times in December, once with the Women’s Blues Revue and twice with Colin James). Expect her show to be a varied showcase of songs, mostly originals, that range from hard-driving horn-laced R&B like "A Love Thats Simple" to the intimate folk duet with Daniel Lanois "La Merveille." Potvin will be at Hugh's Room Friday, March 14. | Big James Montgomery got his first taste of the blues as a youngster standing outside a southside Chicago club. Playing in the horn sections of the legendary bands backing such as Little Milton and Albert King gave him his foothold in the blues world. Now a band leader, frontman, and vocalist, the young trombone player is well on his way. The uptown, horn driven, sound of Big James & The Chicago Playboys make their Canadian debut at Toronto's Silver Dollar Room on March 1st. |
