Mark "Bird" Stafford is seen with a group of students at Jackman School in Toronto performing a song they wrote called the "Bacon Egg Blues" ( "I woke up this morning with the bacon, egg blues, Well the bacon was hard and the egg fell in my shoes, I woke up this morning with the bacon egg blues, After I ate it I had to take a snooze, And that's why I've got the bacon, egg blues.") TBS will be doing more Blues in the Schools programming in 05/06, contact the office for details. Mark will be hosting a group of emerging blues stars at The Southside Shuffle's "Sick Children's Hospital Junior Jam" from noon to 2pm at the Legion Hall. Mark's band plays the Street Shuffle on September 10 in front of the Brogue Inn and he brings his Harmonica Knights to Healey's on October 14. |
You're invited to drop in to the TBS HQ in the Artscape Garden at Crawford and Queen, 910 Queen Street West, on Saturday Sept 17, 2pm - 6pm to enjoy the Delta Blues sounds of Doc MacLean and have a beer in the garden with some fellow TBS members and gallery-hoppers as many Artscape tennants will be opening their studios to the public for the day. Doc's music reflects his family roots in the labour movement and his personal connections to the oral and musical history of the Delta.
