Hi everyone,

May will mark the beginning of the Toronto Blues Society's 20th year!

To celebrate, we'll be holding a party at the Mod Club (722 Queen St. West) on Wednesday May 25 at 7pm. At 8pm, the Maple Blues Revue will hit the stage. Tickets are only $6 at the door for TBS members, so come out, have a slice of cake, a few drinks, and hear some great blues.

We're very excited to be holding our annual Talent Search at the Distillery Blues Festival this year. The festival runs from June 10-12 at Toronto's historic Distillery District. Six finalists, chosen by the TBS Talent Search Jury, will perform on Saturday June 11 for a chance to win a CBC recording, recording time at Bass Line Studios, and a photo shoot with Rick Zolkower. The winner will perform again on Sunday, June 12. This will be a chance to see some of the up-and-coming Canadian blues acts, and best of all, it's FREE! The deadline to enter the competition is Friday May 6th at 5pm. More info, as always, is on our website.

In the mean time, we need your help to ensure that we'll still be around for another 20 years. Here's how you can help:

1. Congratulate us!
Take out an ad in our MapleBlues newsletter congratulating us on our first 20 years. All ad revenue directly supports our programming and services.

2. Sign up New Members
Encourage all the blues lovers in your life to become members. Membership details and forms are available here, in our newsletter, or by calling the office.

3. Volunteer
We're always looking for an extra hand at our office and our events. Volunteers receive free entry to our events and often have the chance to interact with blues artists and prominent members of the community.

Help us keep promoting the blues in Canada for another 20 years. Please contact the office with any questions or ideas, and we'll see you at the Mod Club in May, and the Distillery Blues Festival in June.

Your CD should have been recorded within the last 2 years without national distribution.
Finals will be held at Distillery Blues Festival on June 10-12, 2005

Winner will receive a prize package that includes recording time at Bassline Studios, a photo shoot with Rick Zolkower, and a showcase performance at the Distillery Blues Festival and CBC recording for future broadcast on Saturday Night Blues.
